Catch Big Fish. Eat Great Food. Escape the Crowds
The Bahia la Tortuga Fishing Lodge is located on a secluded stretch of Mexico’s Pacific Coast, about 1 hour south of Ixtapa-Zihuatenejo. You’ve never fished in a place like this.
Picture this: You reach blue water just a mile offshore from the small fishing village of Puerto Vincente. Your captain sets the gear and begins to troll.
Your adrenaline kicks in as the sound of a screaming reel breaks the morning silence. You grab the rod and battle your first Pacific sailfish to the side of the panga.
After snapping a photo and making a clean release, your heart finally stops pounding. When you realize it’s only 8 a.m. on the first day, you know you are on a trip of a life time.
By the end of your stay with us, there’s a good chance you’ll have reeled in more than a dozen photo-worthy sailfish, dorado, tuna, wahoo, or roosterfish with our experienced local captains. And you’ll also have countless stories to tell about your authentic Old World fishing adventure once you return home.
My name’s John, by the way. My wife Angelica and I opened the 7-room Bahia la Tortuga Fishing Lodge in 2001 to help people experience what fishing used to be like in Mexico: simple, relaxed and pristine.
Fishing waters that are virtually untouched
Popular areas located north and south of our lodge have endured decades of heavy fishing pressure. But it’s not like that at Bahia la Tortuga.
We’re located in the middle of the Costa Grande, a 150-mile stretch of unspoiled coastline that Sport Fishing Magazine rated as the second best place in the world for sailfish. It’s a relatively remote area that’s too far away for the big charter fleets to fish on a regular basis.
And that means you’ll probably have these productive waters all to yourself.
Home-like comfort & incredible food
If you’re looking for a place that has an infinity pool or lots of fancy malls nearby, the Bahia la Tortuga Fishing Lodge may not be the right spot for you. We offer simple comforts here.
This is a place where you can sink into a hammock after a day of fishing and watch whales or dolphins swim in the distance. It’s where you can have a soak in the sparkling blue waters just off our private beach and then join us for a poker game or two inside the lodge when the sun sets.
And when it’s time to eat, Angelica or our staff will cook up authentic Mexican cuisine that’s worth writing home about. And we’d be happy to prepare your catch for you as well.
But most importantly, we listen to you. That way, we’ll be able to give you a Mexico fishing trip that offers exactly what you’re looking for.
